New Barn Conversion
we were asked to design and install a full heating and hot water system to meet the needs of a new build ‘’barn conversion’’
After Completing detailed heat loss calculations we were able to accurately size the heat pump, emitters , pipework and required system flow rates.
underfloor heating was chosen for both ground and first floors.
our solution was a Vaillant arotherm R290 heat pump coupled with a 250 litre unvented hot water cylinder and a Frankische underfloor heating system.
The 1st phase was to install the 1st floors underfloor heating.
aluminium spreader plates were fixed to the underside of the caber board (chipboard) flooring. 16mm pipe was then installed into the aluminium heat transfer/spreader plates and connected to the manifold.
For the ground floor we again used Frankische 16mm pipe we laid it directly on top of the celotex vapour barrier at 150mm centers and clipped with 60mm barbed clips utilising our back saving staple gun.
once the floors were screeded and the ceilings up and plastered we returned to install the heat pump, hot water cylinder and all of the pipework and controls.
we managed to achieve a system design without the need for a buffer which saves space, installation costs and energy.
This was all installed alongside smart controls and the heat pump is achieving a scop of 4.8
